The lady (Mount Rainier) was in all her glory yesterday; bathed in sunshine and fully on display for all the tourists traveling through Mount Rainier park to see. For those of us who frequent the pass between Enumclaw and Yakima, it was a day that even we were impressed with her beauty. Just being out on the winding roads as we traveled through the forest that opens out to the Summit of Chinook Pass, reminded me of what I had been missing all Winter long: the smells, sights, and sounds of the beautiful park that is only an hour away from home.
This is the time of year that those of us who live in the Puget Sound live for all year long: The few weeks where the rains stops and the sun comes out. It’s this weather that causes many people from outside the area to decide that Seattle is a beautiful city, and that the reports of constant rain MUST be exaggerated: They then move here…
I’m originally from the sunny side of Washington state. When I moved to the Puget Sound, many of my friends and relatives were taking bets on how long I’d stay here. I must admit, I still miss the snow; and it seems as though the greyness of Winter seems to last forever. But the beautiful green things that seem to sprout up everywhere; and the mountains, lakes and the Puget Sound itself are amazing to see. It’s nice to be able to drive across the mountains and experience both worlds in one day…
And, of course, I’d rather ride than drive…. Especially when I can spend the time on the road with good friends. (That’s me on the left, and my fellow “lady rider” Martha Boston, on the right; at the summit of Chinook Pass)
I need to get some groceries today; but the road is calling again. Perhaps I should ride to the store?…. (You know, even grocery shopping is more fun on my Harley.)

Love the photo, it’s beautiful! I also rather ride to anywhere than drive, I love feeling the wind :)). I never owned a Harley, but one time I took a ride with one friend that had one, they’re great!

I have been fortunate to see some really beautiful places across America; but none have made me want to leave my home state for more than a visit. It’s very difficult for me to be away from my beautiful mountains too long.. 🙂

I’ve been to Mount Rainier multiple times, but I’ve never seen it look like your top picture. That is stunningly beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

There are lots of views of Mount Rainier that you cannot see without hiking in or perhaps on horseback. It was just a couple of years ago that I finally spent a day visiting the real Mt. Rainier park which takes you to Paradise. I was missing the most beautiful parts of the park without taking that ride. It’s not “on the way” to anywhere; so we forget to take the time to go there…. (There is a shot of me in front of Rainier on my facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/AbundanceByDesign. That one was taken in the Mt. Rainier Park…)
