The Most Powerful People on Earth

Psychologist taking notes while woman crying at group therapy

During a live-stream meeting I attended over the week-end, one of the speakers said “The most powerful people on earth are the “Dream Stealers”.  The speaker then went on to say that Dream Stealers are people that tell you that you CAN’T do something.  When you buy their opinion, by giving up on your dream; you are also buying into their lifestyle.

Wow!!  That’s a powerful thought!  When you receive criticism from someone, it’s really important to consider the source.  If this is a person that you really admire and would like to emulate, you may want to understand what they are telling you and why.  If this is not a person you admire, you may want to consider ignoring their advice and bonding with others who are more supportive of your dreams.

Have you had any past experiences with a “Dream Stealer”?  If so, what did you do, and did that response work well for you?  Are you currently dealing with a “Dream Stealer”

It’s true there are people we allow into our lives who suck the energy out of a room and the oxygen from our lungs – if we let them. Those who seem to validate our worst fears can produce 2 results: they can stop us dead in our tracks – definitely a dream stolen! – or they can wake us up and realize we’re in the presence of a blowhard who needs to justify their own sense of failure by creating a party of failed companions. That wake up call can sometimes be just the thing needed to put our booster rockets on and move forward!

Love this phrase of ‘dream stealer’ Peggy; thanks so much for the wake up call!

Thank you for connecting with me, Andrea. People like you, who understand what I’m working on and are as supportive of my efforts as I am of theirs, help to reduce the impact of the dream stealers… I’m glad that we are supporting each other.. 🙂

Dream Stealers suck. But really, they are only Dream Stealers if you let them be. Otherwise they are just Dream Tryin’-to-poop-on-your-paraders. No one can steal anything from you without your permission.

This past weekend I woke up to 3 people talking smack about me and how I was a sell-out and a scammer. People who I used to hang out with. People who are still tired, broke, and can’t make their businesses work. I can’t hang with those people anymore. I have moved on in business and energetically. I ran for comfort to my new groups – people who are trying to be more, not just stuck in the mud complaining about how they can’t and how you can’t and how they will always be stuck.

You must find an environment of people who will support you. No business owner (or anyone else) can go it alone. When the Dream Stealers come knockin’ you’ll be surrounded by so much love and support that you won’t even hear them.

I so totally love what you said, Michelle… It has been tough to stay out of the way of some of my dream stealers: Some of them used to be my closest friends.

I haven’t let them steal my dreams, but I have let them affect how visible I am and how rapidly I’ve moved forward with the work I need to do. Onward and Upward!!

Wow I have never thought of it that way. When we give our power away to the “Dream Stealers” they really do become the most powerful people on earth. It is amazing how much power the words “Dream Stealers” have. I have allowed this to happen before but not any more. You post just enhances my want to keep on track. Thank you.

Thank you for your kind reply, Kama… I think you had the same reaction to the words “Dream Stealers” as I did when I heard them: A real “Aha Moment”… 🙂

Dream stealers are everywhere. If you lack confidence it makes you overly suggestible to Dream Stealers. It could be a stranger who says to you “that’s an ugly hair style” because of your insecurities this stranger’s comments take a hold of you and infiltrates your thoughts all day.

I guide my clients to deflect the dream stealers with their armor of confidence.

    Thought stimulating topic.

Continued Success in all your endeavors!

Yes, Adalia they are everywhere. It has sometimes been a shock to have them come from somewhere unexpected. Those are probably the ones that you need the thickest armor for..

I wish you Continued Success in your endeavors as well. Thank you for connecting with me.. 🙂
